There are four models of the Crank Brothers Eggbeater pedal, ranging from an entry level budget price up to a high tech titanium based pedal. Brief descriptions are as follows; they are all based around a micro-platform designed for cross country race cycling.

The Eggbeater 1 comprises a stamped steel body with stamped wings, a forged chromoly steel spindle and 300 series stainless spring, weighing 256g per pair. Bearings are bushing for the inner and cartridge for the outer, with brass race cleats, giving a release angle of 15-20 degrees.

Secondly, the Eggbeater 2 differs by having a cast steel body but with the same stamped wings, chromoly spindle, stainless spring and bearing designs, with an increased weight of 272g per pair. Like the Eggbeater 1, this has a brass race cleat and release angle between 15-20 degrees.

The Eggbeater 3 has both a cast steel body and wings, with a similar spindle, but with an inner needle bearing. The rest of the specification is the same apart from the weight at 278g a pair.

With the Eggbeater 11, virtually no expense has been spared and this model includes the 4 main parts made from titanium, coming in at a tiny 174g for a pair. Other specifications are similar to the Eggbeater 3, but with a maximum reccommended rider weight of 90kg.

The Candy pedal from Crank Brothers is generally designed for all mountain use, with a small platform. There are four models in the range, going from budget level to top technical design and varying specifications as follows:

The Candy 1 pedal is a one piece composite body with stamped steel wings, weighing 262g a pair, using a forged chromoly steel spindle, 300 stainless steel for the spring, the inner bearing being bushed with the outer using a cartridge. The cleats are brass, with a release angle between 15-20 degrees possible.

The Crank Brothers Candy 2 varies by using an aluminium body with all the other specifications being similar, giving a weight per pair of 296g.

With the Candy 3 the build uses an aluminium body, chromoly spindle, cast steel wings and a needle inner bearing with cartridge outer. This gives a 304g per pair weight.

At the top of the range is the Candy 11, using an aluminium body, but with 4 main parts made from titanium to give a much reduced weight of 226g per pair. The other specifications are the same as for the Candy 3.

The Crank Brothers Mallet is a large platform pedal designed for downhill and similar uses where you need plenty of surface area to keep your foot on while riding. There are 3 models available depending on budget:

The Mallet 1 has a polycarbonate body, stamped steel wings, with a stainless spring and chromoly steel spindle to give a weight per pair of 403g. Inner bearing is bushed, outer is cartridge type with the cleats in brass and a release angle from 15 to 20 degrees.

The Mallet 2 has an additional modification for downhill and race use, in that there are adjustable pins for custom traction on the pedal, which has an aluminium platform. The rest of the design is similar to the Mallet 1 and the weight per pair is just slightly higher at 428g. per pair.

The Crank Brothers Mallet 3 is the top version of this pedal and the design comprises two piece aluminium platform with a polycarbonate body and cast steel used for the wings. A needle bearing is used on the inner and cartridge on the outer, with similar adjustable pins as with the Mallet 2.
