Find and Compare Bike Pedals for your Cycling
One of the most popular pedals is the Look Keo Max which you can buy at prices around £70 for the Look Keo 2 Max Cro Mo Pedal, up to £140 for the highest specification versions like the Look Keo 2 Max Pedal.
Many cyclists also opt for the Look Keo Blade with the top models available for around £270, for example for the Look Keo Blade Pedal; while you can also buy lower priced versions like the Look Keo Blade Carbon Cr-Mo Road Pedals for £145. Another common pedal in the range is the Look Quartz with prices starting around the £65 mark for the Look Quartz MTB Pedals, moving up to £250 for something like the Look Quartz Carbon Ti MTB Pedals.
Compared to the previous model, the Keo Max has a 12% larger platform area to give better cleat support and power transfer. To improve durability the surface is stainless steel, which is directly within the pedal body.
Much of the latest design is around reliability and this includes dual seals on the axle which is oversized, although a low cleat contact height is maintained, helped by miniature bearings including a needle roller, which keep the profile low.
An important extra feature is that the Q-factor can be extended using separate washers to give a final result of 55m, as against the standard 53mm.

The standard retention spring is replaced by a carbon blade to give very secure cleat entry and release with 30% more resistance and the elimination of the need for spring tension adjustment. There are two blade options: version 12 is standard and version 16 gives higher retention resistance which is a bonus for top competitive rides in triathlon or time-trials, but not so popular for leisure.
There is a very large pedaling surface to give the best power transmission, being around 30% larger and 15% wider than the previous version.
Durability is aided by the use of double sealed bearings and an oversized axle and the new use of long fibres for the carbon injected material gives additional strength while keeping the weight down. The retention blades on the Keo Blade are double injected to provide strength both for the blade itself and durability for the cleat contact area.
The axle and bearings have been designed in miniature to keep the stack height low and the Q-factor can be adjusted up from 53mm to 55mm using a washer.
There is also an Aero version of the Look Keo Blade, which uses a compressed carbon shell improving the pedal's aerodynamics.

The base model comprises a polyamide body with fibreglass injection, with a steel axle using a cartride and a needle bearing, which are double sealed and give a final weight of 140g per pedal.
The Look Quartz fundamental design gives excellent mud removal characteristics and a very stable and wide support platform, with easy entry and release to suit the demands of MTB riders. You can also adjust the pedals with supplied washers to give the best contact with different shoes.
Reliability is aided by the use of double sealed bearings.
The latest Quartz pedal has a newly designed retention spring for better engagement and a basically open design that helps to prevent mud from accumulating between the spring and pedal body.
At the next level is the Look Quartz carbon pedal at a light weight of 135g, built using injected carbon to also give excellent mechanical performance. It also uses a lightweight steel axle, 2 micro cartridge bearings and one needle bearing with reinforced seals for longevity.
The shoe contact area is large at 380 sq. mm with the rest of the specifications are similar to the base model.
For that extra lightweight pedal for MTB use the top model is the Look Quartz Ti, which substitutes a titanium axle for the steel one to give a weight of only 120g.
