Find and Compare Bike Pedals for your Cycling
One of the most popular pedals is the Speedplay Zero which you can buy at prices around £90 for the Speedplay Zero Chromo Pedals, up to £510 for the highest specification versions like the Speedplay Zero Titanium Nanogram Pedals.
Many cyclists also opt for the Speedplay Frog with the top models available for around £220, for example for the Speedplay FROG Titanium Pedals; while you can also buy lower priced versions like the Speedplay FROG Chromoly Pedals for £75. Another common pedal in the range is the Speedplay Light Action with prices starting around the £100 mark for the Speedplay X/5 Cromoly Pedal, moving up to £270 for something like the Speedplay X1 Titanium Pedal.
It suits riders who need to customise their cleat/pedal set up and those who prefer a fixed or limited float cleat of up to 15 degrees, in a double-sided entry design.
In terms of materials, the locking edges are all metallic and the cleat self-locates in the pedal simply by stepping down, regardless of where the pedal is in its rotation. There is no spring mechanism, but entering and release are easy, while unintended release is unlikely.
A major benefit of the Speedplay zero range is that the three axis of adjustment of the cleat can be set independently; that means fore/aft, side to side and rotational positions. This is particularly important when trying to avoid knee strain and adapting the shoe position to the individual rider.
The Zero pedal also gives a foot position close to the top of the pedal spindle for best power transfer, so for 3 hole mounting, the stack height is 11.5mm and for 4 hole mounting it is only 8.5mm. In addition the pedal has a thin profile, enabling power to be maintained more easily through corners. This is particularly noticeable in the stainless (37 degrees) and the titanium (39 degree tilt) versions.
Weights are very light with the Zero Chromoly version at 108g, the Zero stainless at 103g and the Zero titanium pedal at a mere 82g.
Despite their low weight and profile the Speedplay Zero also provides a solid connection and platform just like a traditional single sided pedal.
In terms of bearings, there are three, which contributes to the pedal's low profile by allowing a low stack height, while maintaining strength under load.
The pedal is compatible with any 3 or 4 hole shoe mount and there's a wide range of colours available.

They are designed to throw off mud and dirt easily, by virtue of the engagement process pushing any rubbish out of the pedal.
Many of the features are similar to the top road going pedal, including the non-centering free float, quick and easy entry and exit and light weight. The combination makes the Speedplay Frog a very versatile pedal and you can use the G3 Frog cleat with 2 hole SPD style shoes.
It uses a resin composite body to protect against impact damage and is surprisingly light compared to many MTB pedals, because it has a single retention mechanism.
Weights are as follows: Frog Chrome-Moly is 255g per pair, Frog stainless spindle option weighs 250g and Frog Titanium spindle pedals are 206g.

The key characteristic of the Speedplay Light Action pedal is the low force required to clip the cleat into the pedal, as there is no spring tension to overcome. The pedals also give a float range around 15 degrees allowing your knees to find a natural position, without constantly being forced to recentre. The design also makes it easy to set up as there are no complex adjustments to make.
They are a blend of ease of use with advanced cutting-edge technology. As the pedal is symmetrical, you can engage the cleat easily no matter what rotational position the pedal is in. Also, the cleat entry is designed to guide your shoe into the pedal easily without having to look down.
Although its easy to get in and out without big effort, the Light Action pedals are also secure enough not to let you disengage by accident.
The pedal also features a good sized platform that won't move about and makes for comfortable cycling, while still having the benefits of efficient effort transfer. The body is also thin, so you can still get good cornering clearance.
Weights for the range are as follows: Chrome-Moly pedals weigh 110g, stainless are 103g and Titanium at 82g. Compatability is with any 3 or 4 hole mount.
